change

Life changes for a water-butterfly: At first she is inside an egg, thinking world is nice and blue. In the egg she has her very own lunch. She's eating and eating - and she's growing. One day the shell cracks, and now she is a caterpillar.

"I didn't know, I was so long," she thought. Luckily there is some food for her. Life is green and wonderful.

One day she got very tired, at last she couldn't even eat. "That was my life," she thought and closed her eyes. Just before she holds at the leaf - she wouldn't fall down in the dirt. She was now a crysalis.

Time passes by. One sunny day her skin cracked. Surprised she saw she wasn't long anymore. She shakes a little - and what happens? She rises. The flaps behind can be moved, so she can fly. She flew up, up and away - to the waterstream. "I didn't know, the world is so big with so many colours," she thinks with joy. She is now a water-butterfly.

Down at the grass the white rabbit looked at the sky and saw her upthere. "I will fly too! I will!" he shouted and moved his ears forwards and backwards.

(I tell in a comment how my process with the image has been)

Inspired by illustrationblog I will tell how I made this image.

At first I should find the theme and character from my soapbubble at the internet (my special world here). Besides illustrating the word, I want to show some different feelings and ways of handling the life - and yes, maybee some human beings sometimes act similiar..

This time I didn't need to create more creatures, my water-butterfly and my rabbit fits perfect here.

At first I renew my knowledge about butterflies - how are their different phases, where do they live, what do they eat, and most important too: how do eggs, caterpillars and crysalis's look like? I find some pictures to look at.

Now I draw the illos with my computermouse. I use the program Paint Shop Pro. When I use a lot of layers, I can take small parts at the time. First I draw the outlines with a black stroke. Then I find (my very own) textures and colours to fit, sometimes I have to make new.

Now I can pour the colour/texture inside the black outline, and afterwards change the black line to some suitable.

When the drawing is finished, I must find a suitable background. It can be difficult, by this image I've changed several times - but our theme this week is CHANGE after all...

At last the image is going to be uploaded, and it's time for me to write some words about it. When everything have been uploaded - I check the image several times, and sometimes I change and change and.. - this time too.
